Matt develops and sells property in the lakes area and has a reputation of honesty, integrity, and friendliness. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Minnesota Association of Realtors, and the Greater Lakes Association of Realtors.
Matt is well known in the lakes area as he and his brother Jeff founded Lonesome Cottage Furniture Company, a furniture manufacturing firm located in Pequot Lakes Minnesota. Matt, with his brother Jeff, started the company while in college, and when they sold in 2003 had 25 employees and were on pace to break $2,000,000. in revenue. A local business success story, Matt and his brother have been featured in The Star and Tribune (Dick Youngblood), The Brainerd Daily Dispatch (multiple occasions), several magazine articles, and were featured in a special interest story for a news program. Because of this previous experience, Matt is acutely aware of the importance all the different dimensions of business operations, including customer service and product quality.
In addition to Lakes and Leisure, Matt is active with Lands End Development, a company Matt and his brother Jeff founded with their lifelong friends Jon Fogarty and Brian Engen. Lands End Development develops, builds, and markets high quality homes. Lands End also serves as a general contractor for residential building projects throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area.
Matt’s family has been coming to Crosslake since the early 1900’s (his Great-Grandmother was the teacher at the one room school house east of Crosslake). Matt has been spending summers at O’Brien Lake since birth, and when he was 14, the family moved “up north” full time. Since graduating from Pequot Lakes High School in 1992, Matt attended college in Duluth at the University of Minnesota and moved back to the area full time in 1995 finishing School at The College of St. Scholastica. Matt is married with a new son Wyatt and a daughter Sydney (his true boss)!!
